Your Authentic Style: Dressing for Yourself or Others

Your Personal Style and Embracing Individuality

So this is more of a personal post rather than generic, and to be honest.. this type of posting will become the new norm. I have a specific question for you. Are you dressing for yourself or are you dressing for the people around you?

I really don’t want you thinking too deeply on this, but I promise I am going somewhere with this. If you are dressing for others, does this limit your creativity and spin on how you present yourself? I thought about this last week as I have been in multiple settings, thinking about working my wardrobe within the boundaries of those environments. It didn’t feel too fun at times so I decided to think outside the box.

Do you wear the jewelry you want to work, or a water down version to keep those around you “comfortable”? Do you take risks in your outfit like you normally would if no one was around?

My point of asking you the first question, “Are you dressing for yourself or are you dressing for the people around you” was to open your mind to you being the truest version of you, not worrying about what others think is acceptable or comfortable. I have a couple of people around me that I am close to that have said to me how they compromise their outfits for work settings or even to appease certain individuals around them. I’m here to say one thing.. don’t worry about them, do you. That is what makes you handsome and different, being yourself. Stay true to what you think is fashionable and interesting, not the guy or girl who uses tiktok or IG to rinse, wash and repeat the same played outfit everyone knows of. Get some adventure to your style!
